Description

FAQ

Good questions

Can't find your answer? See all our FAQs or get in touch.

What makes it ceremonial grade?

First-harvest, shade-grown leaves from Shizuoka in Japan, stone-ground to a fine, vibrant green powder. That early harvest and careful shading are what separate true ceremonial grade matcha from everyday culinary grade: smooth and naturally sweet, never chalky or bitter.

How do I make it?

Sift 1 to 2g (½ to 1 tsp) into a bowl, add 70 to 80ml of hot water at around 80°C (not boiling) and whisk in a W motion with a bamboo whisk. Or whisk it with your milk of choice for a matcha latte.

How many servings are in a tube?

Around 25 to 30 servings in every 50g tube, at 1 to 2g a serving.

Does it contain caffeine?

Yes. Matcha is green tea, so it naturally contains caffeine. It's also naturally rich in L-theanine.

How is it different from your Matcha Latte?

Ceremonial Grade Matcha is pure matcha with nothing added. Our Matcha Latte is a blend of matcha with coconut milk, Reishi, ashwagandha and vanilla.

Is it vegan?

Yes. The whole Cheerful Buddha range is Vegan Certified.

Is it organic?

No. It's single-origin ceremonial grade matcha from Shizuoka in Japan, but it isn't certified organic.

How does the subscription work?

Choose Subscribe, then pick every month, every 6 weeks or every 2 months. You save 15% on every order and can skip, swap or cancel from your account up to 2 days before each order. Free UK delivery on orders of £30 or more (after your saving), £1.99 below.
